Politics

I can’t believe how gullible people are.  Why don’t people get involved, find the facts and then decide?  It seems to me that politicians get away with things because the people don’t do their part.  So don’t be a sheep and follow your parent, pastor or pundit’s B.S.  Get the facts, get informed, get involved!

Travel – San Francisco

We were traveling June 11-June 21 and spent some time in Trinidad, CA and San Francisco, CA.  Although I have been to these two cities many, many times, it was my first time going to the San Franciso Farmer’s market.  It’s held Saturdays at the Ferry Building and runs from 9-2.  If you are a foodie, then this would be a real treat for you.  I found Artisan Cheeses, Breads and Mushrooms just to name a few of the great finds.  I also found a great Gluten Free Bakery from Oakland called Mariposa.  Stocked up on the breads to take home.

We walked to the market from Union Square.  There were many booths serving food like Koji BBQ, Roasted Pork and more.  I told my family to get these delicious looking donuts but they said they would wait for later.  Well, they ran out later.  I felt sorry for them that they missed out.  We had breakfast at Primavera.  While the lines were long, they move pretty fast.  Well worth the wait!

I will post later about some of the other restaurant finds.

Next time you’re in San Francisco, you have to check it out.

Gluten Free Finds – Pizza and Beer

Many of you may know that due to health issues, I have been on a gluten free diet since October 2009.  This has helped me tremendously.  It’s been hard going without foods I used to love.  So I am always on the lookout for alternatives.  And who doesn’t love pizza and beer!  I am finding that more and more people are benefiting from eating a gluten free diet so restaurants are serving more dishes that are gluten free and supermakets are carrying more gluten free produsts.  I will share with you my latest finds.

I found beer that that tastes very much like my favorite beer – Amstel Light.  This gluten free beer is called RedBridge (http://www.redbridgebeer.com/) and is sold at Henry’s.  It is also on the menu at BJ’s Pizza.    Don’t be discouraged if the 20 year old waiter hasn’t heard of it.  I sent him to the bar and he did come back with it.

BJs also has a gluten free Pizza that is very good.  http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/  BJs let’s you call a half hour before to put your name on the waiting list.  Otherwise, you may find yourself waiting a very long time for a table.
